Topic: The Implications Of Dedication To God
Beloved, you don’t know the potential you carry until you hang around God.
SCRIPTURE: For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. Philippians 1:21
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: To be dedicated to God is to make Him the reason for your existence.
Previously, we saw that dedication to God is a non-negotiable duty of man. We saw reasons why we must be dedicated to God. We noted that the best of man comes out in the Presence of God.
And of course beloved, you don’t know the potential you carry until you hang around God. For example, in my life, I have seen multiplicity of graces by hanging and remaining with God. So, man’s greatest potential comes out of his unity with and commitment to God. This is a major reason we must be dedicated to God.
Now, having looked at the reasons for dedication, the question is, what does dedication imply?
I will give you three implications of dedication:
1. Dedication implies going all the way with God.
In Genesis 12:1, God told Abraham to come out of his father’s house and go to a land he would show him. Abraham departed as the Lord commanded him (Gen. 12:5). He went all the way with God. Before this time, in Genesis 11:26-32, Terah, Abraham’s father, started the journey to Canaan, but he could not go all the way with God. He stopped in the land of Haran and died there. But Abraham took the journey forward and went all the way with God to the land of Canaan.
Beloved, determine to go all the way with God in your journey with Him.
2. Dedication to God implies making God the Centre of one’s life.
To be dedicated to God is to make Him the reason for your existence. Being dedicated to God is coming to a point where you have decided that your life is absolutely meaningless without God. That is what Apostle Paul means in Philippians 1:21 when he says: “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” When a person is dedicated to God, if it is not Christ, life has no meaning. Other people may have other reasons to live but a dedicated person lives only for Christ.
3. Dedication to God implies the absolute ownership of one’s life by God
In Genesis 14:19, Melchizedek addressed Abraham as “Abraham of the Most High God.” Dedication is coming to a point where you have given God the license to own your life and all that make up your life. You allow God to own your life, your time, your resources, your talents and all.
Beloved, always remember that you have only one life to live. Make up your mind to live that one life only in the way that will glorify God.
Remember this: To be dedicated to God is to make him the reason for your existence.
