RCCG LOWER JUNIOR ZEAL FOR 2023/2024

AGE 13-19 TEACHER’S MANUAL

SUNDAY 17TH OF DECEMBER, 2023

LESSON SIXTEEN (16)

TOPIC: REASONS TO BE GRATEFUL TO GOD 1:

(GOD’S UNCONDITIONAL LOVE)

BIBLE TEXT: LAMENTATION 3:22-23
[22]It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
[23]They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
MEMORY VERSE: John 15:13 “Greater love hath no man than this that a man lay down his life for his friends.
LESSON AIM: Teenagers should learn that God’s unconditional love is enough reason to be grateful to Him.
CENTRAL TRUTH: We are to be grateful to God for His unconditional love towards us.
INTRODUCTION: Have you ever looked at the story of Jesus on the cross of Calvary as He was about to die for the sins of mankind, when
the thief beside Him asked to be remembered and Jesus responded that he would be with Him in paradise? The thief didn’t do anything to
receive God’s love; he simply believed that Jesus was God, that He could save him and Jesus did just that.
STUDY GUIDE:
A) UNCONDITIONAL LOVE
Unconditional love is love without any expectations, limitations or strings attached. It is not based on anything done in return, rather, it’s freely given without the expectation of anything in return.
B) WHAT HAS GOD’S UNCONDITIONAL LOVE BROUGHT TO
US?
• Salvation -John 3:16, Ephesians 2:8.
• It drives out fear-1 John4:18.
• It covers a multitude of sins – 1 Peter 4:8.
• Adoption – John 1:12, 1 John 3:1.
• We are strengthened to replicate the same to others -1 John 3:16.
• It brings healing – 1 Peter 2:24.
ACTIVITY: Class Discussion – Using 1 Corínthíans 13:1-13, describe God’s love for us
LIFE APPLICATION: God’s uncondítional love motivated the plan for salvation and as such we have to be grateful. Receive God’s unconditional love because it is the foundation of your relationship with Him. Only those who have a relationship with God can experience and enjoy this unconditional love, Give your life to Jesus to partake of this unconditíonal love for which you will forever be grateful to God.
CONCLUSION: Unconditional love does not mean God loves everything we do, but rather, that His love is so intense that He loves every sinner, no matter how bad such may be in his sin, He still makes a way for such to find love, life and holiness. There are a lot of benefits ín
God’s unconditional love towards us, hence we have a lot of reasons to be grateful to Him.
TODAY’S LESSON REFLECTION:
*What truth have you learnt in today’s lesson?
*Write down one way in which you are going to apply what you now know.
