Meekness is synonymous with humility: it is having the ability to exact revenge yet refusing to. Every child of God ought to inculcate a lifestyle of humility because the book of James before God so that He will exalt you in encourages us to “humble yourself due season” (James 4:10). This was evident in the life of Moses as God attested that he was the meekest man on earth. Moses was chosen to be the leader of over 600,000 people that were known as the children of Israel. Anytime they were faced with a challenge, they would antagonise and blame him for all their misfortunes. Moses, who had the ability to call down fire, never did.
Even when he could lash back at them, he would run to God for a solution. He knew that he couldn’t lead them aright without the help of God, so he stayed humble.
Beloved, you should not be like many leaders who become pompous and overbearing. Be different in your conduct and remain humble if you want God to continually raise you up.
PRAYER POINT:
Holy Spirit, please instill in me the spirit of meekness in Jesus’ name.
HYMN 21 – I Want To Be Like Jesus
- I want to be like Jesus,
So lowly and so meek;
For no one mark’d an angry word,
That ever heard Him speak, - I want to be like Jesus,
So frequently in prayer;
Alone upon the mountain top,
He met his Father there. - I want to be like Jesus,
I never, never find
That He, though persecuted was
To anyone unkind. - I want to be like Jesus,
Engaged in doing good;
So that of me it may be said
“He hath done what he could.” - I want to be like Jesus,
Who sweetly said to all,
“Let little children come to Me;”
I would obey the call. - But oh I’m not like Jesus,
As anyone may see;
O gentle Saviour, send Thy grace,
And make me like to Thee
