TEXT: II CORINTHIANS 5:7-10
TOPIC: LIVING BY FAITH
*II Corinthians 5:7-10 NIV*
7 We live by faith, not by sight.
8 We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.
9 So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. Ecwa daily devotional (food for the day) THURSDAY 22 FEBRUARY 2024
*LIVING BY FAITH*
In the First Century when the apostle wrote this letter to the Corinthian believers, living the Christian life could cost you your life. The nascent Christian faith was misconceived and misrepresented by those who practiced Judaism, particularly the leaders.
Then as Christianity made inroads to Gentile domains, especially among the Greeks, it received an other misrepresentation on and persecution. It was among the Greeks that sorcerers, magicians and so on organized mob riots against the apostles who were preaching the gospel. Living the Christian life required a huge sacrifice.
In popular, modern -day Christianity however, living by faith entails claiming the good things of life by faith. This type of Christianity resonates well with the highly materialistic atmosphere of these last days and the permissiveness that goes with it.
The pulpit no longer rebukes sin but pampers the flesh in order to win more members. To live by faith means to accept whatever comes your way as a result of your stand in Christ.
QUESTION:
Now that you know what it means to live by faith, what could possibly stop you from doing so?
PRAYER: Ecwa daily devotional (food for the day) THURSDAY 22 FEBRUARY 2024
Help me to live by faith, dear Lord, in Jesus name. Amen.
