Topic: Prayer, The Master Key
[DCLM Daily Manna 25 September 2018 Daily Devotional]
Text: John 16:23-33 (KJV)
Key Verse: “Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full“ (John 16:24)
MESSAGE:
The Bible says a lot about prayers and people who prayed. Abraham prayed and so did Jacob. Many people prayed in the Bible and they received answers to their prayers. The Bible even detailed notable prayers like that of Solomon at the dedication of the temple or the quick one that David prayed to God to turn the counsel of Ahitophel to foolishness. Women, like Hannah, prayed too and received miracle children. Even unbelievers like the sailors in Jonah’s day knew how to pray. Prayer is the believer’s heart-cry to the Almighty.
Jesus also prayed. The passage above shows us the master key Jesus gave His disciples. Four times, He told them to ask again and again from the Father so that their joy would be full. He then took them to the school of prayer. He lectured them on the why, what and how of prayer. Prayer must be in His name to be answered. He also taught them to be steadfast in prayer. The world is evil and troublous times are inescapable for the saints. But when such times come, we should pray because He has overcome for us already.
The Church needs the master key of prayer today more than any other time. The key will open any door for the Church, families and the individual. Societal pressures are snuffing prayer times out of the daily schedules of many people. But how can you open doors of success if you abandon the passkey? There is an urgent call to prayer today for all and sundry. You must join them and use the key to make yourself relevant in time and eternity by opening every door blocking your progress. Remember God heareth not the sinners. He desires that sinners first pray for their salvation before He begins to add other blessings to them.
Thought For The Day: Prayer is the master key that opens all locked doors.
