COCIN Devotional FRIDAY 15TH MARCH 2024 Daily Walk With Christ
TOPIC: CHILDREN IN THE FAITH.
TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 4:14-21.
14. I am writing this not to shame you but to warn you as my dear children.
15. Even if you had ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel.
16. Therefore I urge you to imitate me._
17. For this reason I have sent to you Timothy, my son whom I love, who is faithful in the Lord. He will remind you of my way of life in Christ Jesus, which agrees with what I teach everywhere in every church.
18. Some of you have become arrogant, as if I were not coming to you
19. But I will come to you very soon, if the Lord is willing, and then I will find out not only how these arrogant people are talking, but what power they have.
20. For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.
21. What do you prefer? Shall I come to you with a rod of discipline, or shall I come in love and with a gentle spirit?
TOPIC: CHILDREN IN THE FAITH.
MESSAGE
A child will always aspire to be like his father. The text focuses on Paul’s role as a spiritual father to the Corinthians since he was the one who led them to Christ. He urged them to imitate his example by changing their attitudes and behaviours to grow in Christ. He made this statement because he walked close with God, and spent time in God’s word and prayer. He expected them to imitate those aspects of his beliefs and conduct that modelled Christ. Indeed, Christ is the ultimate in all matters of faith and conduct. Christian, you must live out your faith before others, and the gospel will be effectual, not in word and action only, but also in power.
Who is your spiritual model?
You cannot grow in the faith without a guardian. Look up to godly men and women only.
REFLECTION:
Be an imitator of Christ.
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, help me to imitate you only. Amen.
MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH: LUKE 14:27.
