SUB-THEME: THREATS AND OBSTACLES TO HOLY LIVING.
TOPIC: TORN BETWEEN OPINIONS.
TEXT: 1 KINGS 18:21; JOSHUA 24:14-15.
1 KINGS 18:21.
21 Then Elijah stood in front of them and said, “How long are you going to be undecided about who is truly God? If Yahweh is God, then worship him. If Baal is truly God, then worship him!” But the people said nothing in reply, because they were afraid of what Jezebel would do to them if they admitted that they worshiped Yahweh. Jos 24:15.
JOSHUA 24:14-15.
14 Now, therefore, fear the LORD and serve Him in sincerity and truth; cast aside the gods your fathers served beyond the Euphrates and in Egypt, and serve the LORD.
15 But if it is unpleasing in your sight to serve the LORD, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD!” [1Ki 18:21] [2Ch 15:12].
TOPIC: TORN BETWEEN OPINIONS.
MESSAGE:
There comes a time in one’s life that he/she must make a decisive choice. You must not be torn between two opinions (see Mt. 6:24). Elijah challenged the Israelites to take a stand. He knew their indecision was not neutral ground. They wanted to serve both God and Baal, which is not possible. Similarly, Joshua asked the children of Israel to choose God and idols. Dual loyalty is tantamount to spiritual lukewarmness. There are some Christians that are neither here nor there, they keep dual loyalty. Some participate in ancestral worship while others claim to be both Christians and Muslims – “Chris-Iam”.
The question is where do you belong?
Know that there is no salvation outside Christ. Take a stand today.
REFLECTION: Read Revelation 3:16.
PRAYER:
Lord, I choose to stand with you all the days of my life. Amen.
MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH: ISAIAH 35:8.
And a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness. The unclean will not journey on it; it will be for those who walk in that Way; wicked fools will not go about on it.
