TOPIC: DEEP HUMILITY – A MAJOR SECRET TO GOD’S PRESENCE
SCRIPTURE: For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
Isaiah 57:15
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Humility is an attraction for the Almighty.
Our anchor Scripture shows us how interested God is in those who are humble. He is so interested in them that He wants to dwell with them. In essence, God was saying, “If you want to know where to find me, look for the humble. I am there with him.” (Isaiah 57:15 paraphrased). Humility is an attraction for the Almighty.
James 4:6 gives further insight into humility and its influence on our relationship with God: But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
God does not dwell in the climate of the proud or the arrogant; you will never find Him there. You cannot find God in most churches and ministries today because the set men are so arrogant and proud.
If you want to make God comfortable, give Him your seat of humility. My wife once said, “If your wife sees you kneeling before God, she will easily submit to you.” The extent to which you humble yourself before God is the extent to which you will command the submission of your wife.
Make it a lifestyle to honour God both in public and in the closet. One day, we came from service, and my wife came to the room and met me on my knees. We had already knelt on the altar and thanked God, but she still met me on my knees in the room, prostrating before God in appreciation for His help. She said, ‘Eyaaa!’ and joined me straight. She placed her hand on my shoulder and said, “I appreciate you; your heart is so tender before God.” It might appear like acting if it were happening in the church or in front of other people, but here you are on your own, by yourself, on your knees.
Now, when you exit such a closet; God follows you out. His Presence accompanies you wherever you go.
The first Bible Verse that comes to mind whenever I hear something that is meant to blow my mind is “What do you have that you have not received; why do you behave as if you have not received it?” (1 Corinthians 4:7).
Beloved, calm down. It is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy (Romans 9:16)
There is nothing you can do without the help and mercy of God. And that is why a consistent consecrational fast, where you go to God to service you, to purge your heart of pride, is important. To get rid of arrogance, purge your heart of the arrival mentality.
Beloved, it is important to note that deep humility of heart is critical for the maintenance of spiritual and supernatural climate.
Remember this: Humility is an attraction for the Almighty.
ASSIGNMENT(S):
1. Make up your mind to always remain humble
2. Endeavour to consistently engage in a consecrational fast. Ask God to purge your heart of every trace of pride and arrogance.
PRAYER: Father, thank You for Your Word to me today. I acknowledge that there is nothing I have that I did not receive from You. Purge my heart of every trace of pride and arrogance, and help me to remain humble, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
