On the surface, this type of resistance may seem passive. But in practice, it is anything but. Prayer is an active stance that is both intentional and powerful.
What’s different is that you are not relying
on your own strength to fight the battle. Rather, you are leaning into the strength and authority of almighty God to handle the situation.
You are agreeing to join the struggle by praying rather than turning away, backing off, or retreating. You are also agreeing to
fight the battle God’s way instead of your own.
Such resistance takes strength and courage in the heat of the moment. It also takes patience and perseverance. It requires you to “not lose heart”
(Luke 18:1).

Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go and pray over there.”
And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. Then He said to them,
“My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me”
(Matthew 26:36–38).
