Sermon for today by Charles F. Stanley : Plant the Seeds for Tomorrow

Topic :Plant the Seeds for Tomorrow

Making wise decisions today enables you to make wise decisions tomorrow.

What you are today is the result of your thinking and the way you lived in the past. If you foster a strong work ethic when you are young, it prepares you to take on the responsibilities of a career when you
grow older. If you make wise decisions today, it gives you the ability to continue making God- honoring decisions in the future.

This is true even with your finances. If you save and invest wisely today, you will have plenty for tomorrow. But if you spend everything you have today, you will have little or nothing to show for your efforts in the future. Shortsighted people are like the
servant in Jesus’ parable of the talents who buried his money in the ground (see Matthew 25:14–30).

Unlike the master’s first two servants, this man sowed nothing for the future.

The master had only this to say to him: “You wicked and lazy servant . . . you
ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest” (verses 26–27).
Failure to follow God’s instructions can lead to forfeiting His blessings.
The lesson of reaping what you sow is a difficult one for many to comprehend. Even God’s chosen people, the nation of Israel, struggled with the concept.

Their waywardness and failure to do what
God instructed them to do often placed them in the position of forfeiting His blessings. Their never- ending cycle of sowing obedience and reaping blessing, and then sowing disobedience and reaping
punishment, would be comical if it weren’t so tragic.
The good news for believers today is that the Lord offers clear, concise, and practical principles in Scripture to serve as warnings and encouragement regarding sowing and reaping.

Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches. Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap(Galatians 6:6–7).
