TOPIC: THE POWER OF PRAISE
SCRIPTURE: I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
Psalm 34:1
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: You can’t be wasted if the climate of praise, worship and thanksgiving is permanently felt around you.
Our anchor scripture makes it clear that praise is what should be done at all times. 1Thessalonians 5:18 corroborates this when it says, In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. So, we should maintain a continuous flow of praise every moment of our lives. Find reasons to praise and thank God continually.
Furthermore, Psalms 150:6 says, Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD. The meaning is, for as long as you are breathing, be reminded that you must praise God.
The fact that the Scripture admonishes us to praise at all times communicates how crucial and potent praise is.
In today’s study, we shall x-ray in detail why praise is such a potent spiritual force.
1. The climate of praise is the guarantee of God’s Presence. Psalm 22:3 says, But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. A praiser cannot lack Divine presence. Psalm 89:15 says, Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance.
The climate of praise or worship is the guarantee of God’s presence.
Beloved, in your journey through life, if you want the presence of God in your life, praise is a non-negotiable factor.
2. The climate of praise, worship, thanksgiving is the guarantee of Divine direction. It is the guarantee of the Voice of God (Isaiah 30:29).
Hearing the voice of God is one of the greatest assets in a man’s life. In 2Kings 3:15, while the minstrel played, the hand of the Lord came upon Elisha and he heard God. So, the climate of praise is the guarantee of God’s voice of direction.
3. The climate of praise is the guarantee of Divine preservation. You can’t be wasted if the climate of praise, worship and thanksgiving is permanently felt around you. Psalm 32:7 says, Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance.
Beloved, if you desire God’s presence, Divine direction and preservation, watch your praise life; let nothing tamper with it.
Now, here is my counsel:
a. Trust God for the garment of praise instead of the spirit of heaviness.
We live in a world that is filled with the spirit of depression. Don’t let the spirit of depression overrun, overwhelm or swallow your praise life (Isaiah 61:3).
b. Resist the spirit of murmuring and grumbling (1Corinthians 10:10). Murmuring is a destroyer.
c. Resist the spirit of ingratitude or unthankfulness.
Some people say, “God has done something but is that all? Is it not possible for God to do more than this? Is this all that God can do?” That is the expression of the spirit of ingratitude.
Beloved, if you want God to do more for you, praise and thank Him for the ones He has done. Thank Him for His finger and you will see His Hand.
Remember this: You can’t be wasted if the climate of praise, worship and thanksgiving is permanently felt around you.
ASSIGNMENT (S):
1. Praise God at all times.
2. Refuse to be ungrateful to God; if you think God has not done anything for you, what about the gift of life?
PRAYER: Lord, I am grateful for how far You have brought me. If not for You Lord, I would have been forgotten by now. Be glorified, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
