TOPIC: KEYS TO BIRTHING THE PURPOSE OF GOD
SCRIPTURE: For with God nothing shall be impossible. And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.
Luke 1:37-38
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: God wants to do what does not follow natural orders or protocol.
Our God is the God of thoughts, plans, and purposes. That is why Jeremiah 29:11 says, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. So, God is the God of thoughts, plans and purposes. It is also vital to note that the thoughts, plans, and purposes of God pre-exist the existence of man. The purposes of God existed before man came into being (Jeremiah 1:5, Isaiah 46:9, Isaiah 46:9, Act 15:18).
In a world where there is a calculated attempt by the devil to distract men from birthing God’s purpose, it is crucial to understand what it takes to give birth to the purpose of God in the earth like Mary did.
And this is the essence of our study today. But before we proceed into this, it is important to understand God’s standpoint as far as His purpose on earth is concerned. What are some of the features and descriptions of the things God wants to do on earth?
1. God wants to do what has not been done before. He wants to do in your life and through your life what has not been done before. Imagine the God who sits on the throne and the earth is His first stool, the big God who fills the universe decided to enter the womb of a woman that He created. It is like an elephant got swallowed by an ant but that is still nothing compared to what God did. It is like the Indian Ocean; the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean all emptied into a coke bottle. That was how God the Son became contracted or shrunk into the womb of a woman.
2. God wants to do what is bigger than the size, the capacity and the experience of the people he wants to use.
3. God wants to do what is beyond the help or support of mortals.
4. God wants to do what does not follow natural orders or protocols. There are things God wants to do that do not follow the natural cause of things; they are not normal.
Now, what does it take to birth God’s purpose on earth? From the life of Mary as seen in Luke Chapter One, we shall be looking at some of the characteristics of people who can birth Divine purpose on the earth.
1. People who are ready to surrender their personal ambitions and plans to the purposes of God. Mary allowed her marriage ceremony to be interrupted by heaven. She said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word (Include the Scripture).
2. People who are ready and willing to bear the reproaches of God. People who are ready to be called names. People who are ready to be castigated or to be considered controversial like Mary.
3. People who will not be carried away by the applause of impact. People who have enough humility to handle the publicity of impact.
4. It is people who pay attention to the details of the vision through direction from God. Many people have vision, but they lack direction.
5. It is people who are willing to be overshadowed by God. Mary was overshadowed (Luke 1:35). People who are not struggling to make a show. Those who are not looking for celebrity ministry status. There are people even in Ministry who think and behave like the pop stars of the world.
Beloved, God is saying, “It is not you I want people to see when they see you; I want them to see me. Don’t advertise yourself to the world; advertise me to the world.”
Remember this: God wants to do what does not follow natural orders or protocols.
ASSIGNMENT (S):
1. Go through the outlined characteristics of people who would birth God’s purpose and trust God to help you possess those characteristics.
2. Refuse to exist without impacting your generation.
PRAYER: Lord, I surrender my life and ambitions to You. Let my will be dissolved into Your will as You use me for Your glory in my generation, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
