TOPIC: THE WORD OF GOD, THE WORD OF HOPE.
SCRIPTURE: My soul fainteth for thy salvation: but I hope in thy word. Psalm 119:81
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: You are not permitted to be hopeless if you are worded.
The importance of the Word of God in the life of the child of God can never be over emphasized. The Word of God is as necessary to us as clean water is to a thirsty man (Ephesians 5:26). If the Word of God is likened to water, it means as impossible as it is for human beings to survive without water so impossible it is for any child of God to survive without the Word of God.
Now, why is the Word of God so necessary?
We shall be looking at one necessity of the Word of God in our study today:
The Word of God is the hope of the child of God.
The Word of God is the Word of hope. No wonder, Psalm 119:81 says, My soul fainteth for thy salvation: but I hope in thy word. The Word is fuel for hope.
Psalm 119:114 corroborates this fact: Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.
And Psalm 62:5 gives further insight: My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.
Beloved, wait only on God and on His Word, not on man, not on the government, and not on connections abroad.
Some time ago, someone called me from Europe and said, “Pastor, pray for me.” I asked her, “Why?” And she said, “They have given me three weeks to return to Nigeria.” And I asked her, “Why do they want you to return to Nigeria? Are you not staying there legally?” And she said that she went there as a refugee, seeking asylum, and that they had not been able to work on her papers for her to stay there legally. I got very angry with her and said, “Asylum, why? Are you a refugee? Which war did you run from? It is because of your type that people don’t respect us abroad.”
Is being a refugee a good thing? I asked her, “So, what do you want?” She said, “Pray for me.” I said, “Father, let your will be done in her life. If it is your will for her to return to Nigeria, let her return.” I am sure she regretted calling me.
Beloved, look up to God and to His Word. Stop working for connection that will amputate your life and destiny. The Word of God gives us hope. That is why you are not permitted to be hopeless if you are worded. Wordlessness is a major cause of hopelessness. And Hopelessness and discouragement are the twins of suicidal tendencies. That is why you should place yourself on a continuous diet of the Word.
The Word of God fuels hope in man, and hope in man attracts the help of God.
REMEMBER THIS: You are not permitted to be hopeless if you are worded.
ASSIGNMENT(S):
1. Put the Word of God in your spirit daily.
2. Refuse to put your hope in man or in the systems of this world.
3. Locate a scripture that addresses what you are trusting God for and wait on God for the manifestation.
PRAYER: Thank You Lord for the arrival of my expectations. Lord, my eyes are on You. I cannot fear what the future holds because You hold my future in Your Hands, Lord in Jesus’ Name.
