BASIC SCRIPTURES: NUMBERS 32:23; GENESIS 4:1-7

Numbers 32:23 (KJV):

“But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the Lord: and be sure your sin will find you out.”

Genesis 4:1-7 (KJV):

“And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord. And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. And in process of time it came to pass that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord. And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering: But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. And the Lord said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.”

Prayer for October 23, 2023:

Heavenly Father,

We come before You on this day with humble hearts, seeking Your guidance, forgiveness, and strength. We thank You for the wisdom and lessons found in Your Word.

As we reflect on the scriptures from Numbers 32:23 and Genesis 4:1-7, we are reminded of the consequences of our actions and the importance of offering our best to You. Lord, help us to understand that sin has consequences, and that it is better to choose obedience to Your will.

We confess our sins and shortcomings before You. We ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing. Just as You showed favor to Abel’s offering, may our worship and offerings to You be done with sincerity and in accordance with Your Word.

Lord, guide us in making the right choices, in doing well and seeking Your acceptance. We pray for the wisdom to discern right from wrong and the strength to follow Your path.

Help us to be aware of the sins that may be lurking at our doors, ready to lead us astray. Grant us the ability to resist temptation and to rule over the desires that seek to pull us away from Your will.

May Your presence be with us throughout this day and every day. We commit our actions, thoughts, and words to You, seeking to live in obedience and righteousness. Grant us Your grace, mercy, and protection.

In Jesus’ name, we pray.

Amen.
