MEMORY VERSE: “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?” – 1 Corinthians 6:19
BIBLE PASSAGE: 1 Corinthians 6:13-20 KJV (RCCG Sunday School TEACHER’s Manual 12 April 2020)
13 Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.
14 And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power.
15 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.
16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.
17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
INTRODUCTION:
The truth that God created humanity as “male and female” reveals that we are created as sexual beings (Genesis 1:27). God’s command to “be fruitful and multiply” cannot be fulfilled without sex (Genesis 1:28). Sex was designed to consummate the lifetime Union between a man and woman (Genesis 4:1; Matt. 19:6). Purity is a reflection of God’s own character. Hence, sexual purity is a treasure to be guarded and valued. However, sex has been misused and abused (Romans 1:24-25) in the world because of sin (Romans 3:23).
TEXT REVIEW: 1 Corinthians 6:13-20
Apostle Paul stated in verse 13 of the above scripture that, “Now the body is not for fornication”. Why did the Apostle make this categorical statement? The answers are:
i. Because the body belongs to the Lord. (1Cor. 6:13).
ii. God will raise the body by His power after death. 1Cor. 6:14).
iii. Those who are joined to harlot will receive the reward of an harlot. (1Cor. 6:16).
ACTIVITY: Teacher should identify from the passage at least five other reasons the body is not for fornication.

Thy friendship suits me well,
Both young and old will sing Thy song,
We long for Sunday School. - O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
Christ was Thy first teacher,
The Holy Spirit, great teacher,
Does manifest in thee. - O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
This testimony is sure,
That God, the Father Almighty,
Poured His blessing on Thee. - O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
Though the sun be so bright,
Or if the clouds black with rain,
I’ll be in Sunday School. - O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
I rejoice to see Thee,
Will thou pass over me today?
Without my being blest?
