READ: Matthew 26:40-41
40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?
41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2 Kings 1-3
MESSAGE:
When God told us (His children) to pray without ceasing, He wasn’t joking. As a child of God, you cannot afford to stay without praying or pray only when you feel it is important.
I cannot give you a prayer timetable: however, I can list sixteen instances when you should pray. Pray whenever you are weak and also when you are strong. Pray when you are absolutely helpless and when you have power, when God seems far away and when He is near, when you are poor and when you are in plenty, in times of sorrow and of joy, when you go out and come in, when you are at war and at peace, and lastly, when you are not sure of making it to Heaven and when you are so sure you are making if to Heaven.
Beloved, now you know that you have a lot to pray about. and you cannot pray only when you think it is convenient for you.
HYMN: JUST AS I AM, WITHOUT ONE PLEA
- Just as I am, without one plea,
But that Thy blood was shed for me
And that Thou bidst me come to Thee,
Oh Lamb of God I come, I come. - Just as I am, and waiting not
To rid my soul of one dark blot
To Thee, whose blood can cleanse each spot
Oh Lamb of God I come, I come. - Just as I am though tossed about,
With many a conflict, many a doubt,
Fighting’s and fears within, without,
Oh Lamb of God I come, I come. - Just as I am poor, wretched, blind,
Sight, riches, healing of the mind
Yea, all I need, in Thee to find
Oh Lamb of God I come, I come.
