READ: Mark 8:34-38
34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.
36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Kings 10-12
MESSAGE
It is impossible to just walk into a store, pick whatever you want and leave without paying for what you have taken. If you cannot get the things you need for free, why then will you expect to get the blessings of God for free? Well, you can say salvation is free, but truly, it is not free. Only the recipient receives it for free, but Jesus paid with His blood. Now, obeying God’s commandments is the price to pay for you to enjoy His blessings and eternal life.
God the Son (Jesus), paid the price for you by coming to the earth to die for your sins. It is only proper for you to repay this kind gesture by serving Him without compromise. There is always a price to pay for everything. For example, if you want to be successful in life, hard work is the price to pay, and to make it to Heaven on the last day, total obedience to the word of God is the price to pay.

HYMN 4 – On A Hill Far Away
- On a hill far away
Stood an old rugged cross,
The emblem of suffering and shame;
And I love that old cross
Where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was slain.
CHORUS
So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross;
And exchange it someday for a crown.
- Oh, that old rugged cross
So despised by the world,
Has a wondrous attraction for me;
For the dear Lamb of God
Left His glory above,
To bear it to dark Calvary. - In the old rugged cross,
Stained with blood so divine,
A wondrous beauty I see;
For ’twas on that old cross
Je-sus suffered and died,
To par -don and sanc-ti-fy me. - To the old rugged cross
I will ever be true,
Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
Then He’ll call me some day
To my home far away,
Where His glory for-ever share
