Yesterday, we established the timeless truth that parenting goes beyond providing the needs of our children like love, attention, support and material things. Most of all, it entails providing them knowledge, especially about the living God and how to develop their social skills. Dear parent, it is your responsibility to lead your children to Christ and teach them the Christ-like values that will make them stand out as salt and light in this crooked and pervert world (Matthew 5:13-14).

Proverbs 22:6, our memory verse, is a guarantee of success for you as a committed and Christ-like parent We saw the proofs of great parenting in the lives of Daniel, Meshach, Shadrach and Abednego, even as slaves in the land of Babylon. Though they found themselves as captives in the most corrupt and ungodly nation in their days, they stood for God and refused to bow down to idols of Nebuchadnezzar nor allow themselves to be polluted by Babylonian culture. Children are created to be taught and guided.

Parents, don’t let your children grow without guidance. Such children are not likely to make the right choices in life because the Bible says that folly is bound up in the heart of a child (Proverbs 22:15). Teach and help them to discover their divine purpose and path in life as well as how they can use their gifts in a positive way as adults (Proverbs 3:5-7). As they know God early in life, it becomes easy to chart their course in life through Christ.

While it is true that some children that were trained in the way of the Lord sometimes stray from the faith, our faithful God will always find and bring them back to His fold. Commit your children continually to God’s hands in prayers. They shall be led and guided by God’s angels against the wiles of the devil and all negative influences.

As a parent and teacher to your children, you wield great influence over their lives and you will have results, good or bad, depending on whether you train them in the way of the Lord or not. Esther turned out so well in life because, her uncle, Mordecai, trained and influenced her positively. He guided her to the throne and stardom and she, in turn, subjected herself to his mentoring, wise counsel and positive influence.

I pray that you live to enjoy the dividends of godly and faithful parenting, in the name of Jesus.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

  1. Father, make my children, godly and committed to You all their years, in the name of Jesus.
  2. The enemy will not waste my children’s lives, in the name of Jesus.
  3. As I commit myself to train my children to love and serve You and others, Father, give me the grace and power to have good results, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

  1. Agenda and devices of the devil assigned to turn my children away from the Lord, die, in the name of Jesus.
  2. Father, make my sons as plants grown up in their youth and my daughters as corner stones polished after the similitude of a palace, in the name of Jesus.
  3. O God, make me a great teacher, counsellor and mentor to my children, in the name of Jesus.
  4. My children and I shall serve the Lord and we shall be for signs and wonders, in the name of Jesus.
