Topic: God’s Glory Revealed!
[DCLM Daily Manna 9 March 2019 Daily Devotional by Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi]
Text: Psalm 19:1–6 (KJV)
Key Verse: “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork” (Psalm 19:1).
MESSAGE:
“What is sextillion?”, a puzzled Julius asked the physics teacher who had just told the class that the mass of the earth is 6.6 sextillion tonnes. “Well”, the teacher answered, “to make it simple for you; you know that one bag of cement weighs 50 kilogrammes. So, one tonne will be twenty bags – right, 6.6 tonnes will then be 132 bags. Now if you multiply 132 bags of cement by one billion, you will have 132 billion bags of cement – isn’t it?” This quantity multiplied by one trillion will give you 6.6 sextillion tonnes – that’s the mass of the earth that revolves round the sun at a speed of 66,600 miles per hour. That’s the power of our God”, the teacher concluded.
Our text reveals God’s marvellous creations which are clearly displayed for all to see. Each day announces it to the following one and the night repeats same. Without words, their message is transmitted for all to hear and see! The sun is seen (from the earth), as going from one end of heaven to the other daily with its burning heat that touches all. The moon at night with its glorious light is a beauty to behold and so on. Compressed into just two chapters at the beginning of Genesis is the amazing story of how God created the heavens and the earth. The orderliness of nature is intriguing.
Surprisingly, some people claim that all these happened by a random error, and that there is no God that created them. The Bible calls such fools. The world, as complex and as multifaceted as it is, is the creation of the Almighty. And the world is not about to spiral out of control. God is absolutely in charge. Let your abiding trust be in the Most High who is perfect in counsel and excellent in working. No one else wields His awesome powers.
However, the great privilege of being a child of this great God must be treasured by living daily to glorify Him.
Thought For The Day: God’s creations portray His majesty.
