Topic: Shutting Out The Prince Of Peace
[DCLM Daily Manna 8 February 2019 Daily Devotional by Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi]
Text: Isaiah 2:1-9 (KJV)
Key Verse: “…And shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more” (Isaiah 2:4).
MESSAGE:
Visitors to the United Nations building in New York are often perplexed when they read what is written on a cornerstone there: “…they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.” This is part of a prophecy about the conflict-free reign of Jesus Christ when He returns to establish His government on earth as depicted in Isaiah 2. The UN quotes it to suggest that the body is capable of bringing peace to our war-plagued world.
But since 1945 when this global grouping came on board, there have been more threats to world peace and insecurity than mankind has ever known in its history. There are frightening weapons of mass destruction along with sophisticated guns in the hands of both state and non-state actors. There are low-intensity wars across the planet and daily there are fears they might erupt into a consuming conflagration.

The reason for the flight of peace from man is that although men quote God’s promises, they do not satisfy His requirements. They have alienated the One who gives security. They have shut His Son out of their lives. Yet He is the Author of peace we desperately need.
God’s blessings manifest only when we obey and serve Him as He directs in the Bible. We must not only quote His promises or inscribe them on our buildings. We must not have an academic disposition to the Scriptures. The word of God is what we must preserve and do if life is to be cherished.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Peace avoids those who void the Bible.
