Topic: Failure after Success!
[DCLM Daily Manna 6 June 2019 Daily Devotional by Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi]
Text: 2 Kings 10:28-36 (KJV)
Key Verse: “But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD God of Israel with all his heart: for he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, which made Israel to sin” (2 Kings 10:31).
MESSAGE:
One often recurring indices in the story of most successful people is their inability to manage success. They lack what it takes to have sustainable success. Learning to manage success is one skill everyone should have in order to have wholesome success.
Jehu came into limelight with a blazing record of success. He was born to fulfil prophecy; that is, bring judgment to the wicked and idolatrous reign of King Ahab and his wife, Jezebel. He was able to carry out this task with a commendable zeal that was pleasing to God but unfortunately for him, he stumbled after succeeding.
Most failures that follow success often are due to complacency, pride, resort to self-management, letting down the guard, becoming careless, self-conceited and total neglect of God and His counsels. If we are going to successfully manage and keep our triumphs either in the homes and families, work places, businesses, life endeavours and our ministries and callings, we must learn to keep and follow those same rules and principles that brought us to the limelight of success in the first place. Nothing helps to keep success firm than yielding to the word of God. The moment we begin to see the present state, then the foundation of our success becomes fatally weak.
God does not intend that we just have a momentary dash at success. He wants us to succeed and keep succeeding in every of our endeavor. But the secret to this kind of success is contained in His word. No one who ever wishes to have an all-round and robust success affords to ignore His word.
Thought For The Day: To be prosperous and have good success require the word of God as a foundation.
