Topic: Thank God For Everything [DCLM Daily Manna 30 May 2019 Daily Devotional by Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi]
Text: Psalm 116:10-19 (KJV)
Key Verse: “I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD” (Psalm 116:17).
MESSAGE:
Almost every culture in the world has celebrations of thanks for a plentiful harvest. The American Thanksgiving holiday began as a feast of thanksgiving in the early days of the American colonies almost four hundred years ago. These early settlers sailed to the New World in 1620 because they wanted to be separate from the unscriptural beliefs of the Church of England. After suffering initial hardships and difficulties, the colonists eventually grew their crops and ordained a day of thanksgiving to God for His goodness and mercies.
There is a great lesson from the passage under consideration – giving thanks to God. The Psalmist, from the beginning of this chapter narrated several occasions where he was miraculously delivered from danger and even death. After his deliverance, he was miraculously delivered from danger and even death. After his deliverance, he decided to give thanks to God by telling of His wondrous works and paying the vows he made in the times of his distress. He promised to make the praise of god public in the assembly of worshippers and spend the remaining days worshipping God.

The challenge before us in this Psalm is to give more time to praising God rather than presenting request after request. We should remember some occasions where God miraculously delivered us from trouble. This means our lives still count and God hasn’t finished with us yet. If we truly understand the greatness our God, we will adore Him always with a grateful heart. Praising God and giving Him thanks bring about more divine intervention in our circumstances.
Thanksgiving should not be restricted to those special days declared for that purpose in our nations. Honouring God should go far beyond regular payment of our tithes and offerings. It should involve surrendering our lives in consecration to His exclusive use; laying all we are, have and possess cheerfully at His service. Also, we must endeavor to fulfil the vows we made to God when we were in distress.
Thought For The Day: Only ingrates will refuse to praise God.
