Topic: You Can Be Cleansed
[DCLM Daily Manna 28 April 2019 Daily Devotional by Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi]
Text: Leviticus 14:33-57 (KJV)
Key Verse: “But he shall let go the living bird out of the city into the open fields, and make an atonement for the house: and it shall be clean” (Leviticus 14:53).
MESSAGE:
Leprosy and other diseases on the skin are all embarrassing and greatly inconveniencing. They are obvious to human sight, irritating to the affected and alienate victims from the rest of the society. Likewise, sin and unrighteousness is a damning blemish that needs to be cleansed very fast before it does greater damage.
The passage gives a step-by-step instruction on how to cleanse leprosy from the “walls of the house”. God was interested in the wellness and wholeness of His people, the cleanliness in the body and the home, even their building. He will not ignore even the symptoms of leprosy on the walls! God gave the clear details of how to cleanse the plague and any other blemish on a man’s garment or house.
God is equally interested in the wholeness of our spirit, soul and body. Our body is the temple of the Holy Ghost and as such, every defilement, pollution, stain and blemish is intolerable. As the owners of the defiled houses were expected to expose themselves to the priest for cleansing, likewise, sinners, backsliders and defiled people are expected to expose themselves in confession and restitution to God for forgiveness. “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper; but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy” (Proverbs 28:13). No effort was to be spared in cleansing the defiled building, from the scraping of the plaster to the total removal of the blocks of the building.
There is assurance of cleansing from every form of defilement today, if the defiled can take the simple steps of acknowledging the defilement, confessing it before God, asking for forgiveness on the basis of the blood of Jesus shed for man and accepting by faith, the pardon offered him through Christ’s vicarious death.
Thought For The Day: No stain of sin is beyond cleansing, if the sinner genuinely repents.
