Topic: His Perfect Will
[DCLM Daily Manna 27 March 2019 Daily Devotional by Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi]
Text: Genesis 27:41-46; 28:1-9 (KJV)
Key Verse: “Arise, go to Padanaram, to the house of Bethuel thy mother’s father; and take thee a wife from thence of the daughters of Laban thy mother’s brother” (Genesis 28:2).
MESSAGE:
God laid the foundation of the institution of marriage in the Garden of Eden. Adam, the first man was oblivious of his own need for a partner. God noticed that and created a woman as a partner for him. Our Lord Jesus validated the act by re-emphasising monogamy as the express will of God for all marriages in His earthly ministry.
The fall of man brought in its wake, degradation of morals and values. The 21st century has ushered in the depth of moral corruption. Polygamy today, is a measure of man’s dexterity and masculinity. Polyandry gives the indication that “what man can do, a woman can outdo him”. Same-sex marriage is an audacious affront to the “nosy” conservatives to mind their own business. Trial marriage by the youths, according to them, is not sin, but an insurance against an uncertain future. Even world famous “Men of God” divorce at will and remarry without anyone blinking an eye. The blueprint of marriage has been discarded by man to his own hurt. The institution of marriage is dire distress.

Isaac was eminently qualified, as a monogamist, to sermonise to Jacob how to “take a wife” from his own people. He could easily remember his father’s charge to Eliezer, his chief of staff, to pick a wife for him from the same location. Abraham and Isaac were aware of the dangerous influence of the Canaanites, and would not leave the marriage of their descendants to chance.
As youngsters prepare for the future, it is essential they fervently pray and seek the face of the Lord for the perfect will of God in marriage. “With God all things are possible.”
Thought For The Day: “One man, one wife for life is the perfect will of God”.
