Topic: Hand It Over
[DCLM Daily Manna 23rd July 2018 Daily Devotional]
Text: Psalm 102:1-11 (KJV)
Key Verse: “”Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline thine ear unto me: in the day when I call answer me speedily” (Psalm 102:2).
MESSAGE:
A common inscription in most Christian homes had a liner about Jesus Christ, the unseen GUEST. Indeed, He is the silent Watcher in the home. He knows about the storm and challenges in the family. Nothing escapes Him. And He is not unfamiliar with the devil’s antics.
The Psalmist in the text knew where to turn to as he absorbed the gale of woes that came upon him. He did not have to consult an oracle of the ungodly. Nor did he panic in surrender to fate. He also did not have to curse God or rail on destiny. He did not lay any blame on some ancestral or generational curse. Instead of all these unhelpful approaches, he did a realistic appraisal of his situation and discovered the enormity of his condition. Although it was not a helpless situation, he knew it was clearly beyond what he or mortal man could take care of. He needed to go to the Higher Authority, a Supernatural Force namely Jehovah God of Israel.
Having identified where succour and solution could be accessed, he presented his case to God. He hid nothing from Him. The faithful God does not reject those who heed His call. He says in Isaiah 45:22: “Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else”.
When you are born again and focus on heaven, you will not be trapped in the snare of the devil to frighten you with short-lived challenges of life. No matter how boisterous the wind and waves, know that your boat cannot sink. Just rest on Jesus’ unfailing promise.
Thought For The Day: Resist fear with faith in God.
