Topic: Many Members; One Body
[DCLM Daily Manna 18 July 2019 Daily Devotional by Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi]
Text: Romans 12:1-8 (KJV)
Key Verse: “For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another” (Romans 12:4, 5).
MESSAGE:
A police sergeant was seen motivating the constables in his team to kick-start a duty truck. A man in an unmarked car approached and asked why he was not helping them, to which he replied that sergeants do not push trucks. The man left his car and joined the constables to push the truck which started with the extra push. Thereafter, he gave the sergeant his card and told him to call when next he had a job too small for sergeants to do and then drove off. The sergeant soon discovered that the helper was the newly posted police boss.
In our text, Apostle Paul admonishes believers to present their bodies as living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God. We are not to conform to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of our minds to prove what is good and perfect will of God. He further advised that no one should think himself more highly than others but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. He further explained that as we have many members in one body (Church) and all members have not the same office (function), we still belong together, with differing gifts.
Great leaders of renown have always been those who adopted the posture of servants. Like Christ who washed the feet of His disciples, believers must learn to emulate Him and render the same kind of service to fellow Christians.

As believers, we must lay aside self-centeredness and be in one accord with all members of the body of Christ. We are to use the gifts we are bestowed with cheerfully. Selfishness will ruin the Christian and eventually the Church, while true unity and oneness will build a Christian and the Church of Christ.
