Topic: Sin Would Be Judged
[DCLM Daily Manna 14 July 2019 Daily Devotional by Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi]
Text: Isaiah 19:5-10 (KJV)
Key Verse: “The fishers also shall mourn, and all they that cast angle into the brooks shall lament, and they that spread nets upon the waters shall languish” (Isaiah 19:8).
MESSAGE:
The essence of any sacrifice for any wrongdoing is to appease the offended. This sacrifice, by whatever form it may take, is understandably offered in genuine repentance and that the act would not be repeated. Sacrifice for sin without genuine repentance and complete turning away from sin displeases God.
The picture that is painted of Egypt in our text is a dark gloomy spectacle. God requires every man everywhere to repent in order to avoid that despairing spiritual condition. He allowed for that period of ignorance when men set aside God’s righteousness and proceeded to establish their own righteousness.
Egypt has the Nile River as its major source of sustenance. “And the waters shall fail” (v 5). God would allow it to happen because of Egypt’s penchant for worshipping the creature rather than the Creator. Egypt had had all sorts of gods its people and leaders worshipped. The irony was that the longsuffering God still loved them. But they remained unmoved. When Egypt had setbacks in war, their rulers did not repent.

But the situation would not continue. So, the Lord intervened and pronounced severe woes on Egypt. Punishment will always come upon those who ignore the love of God. Truly, He could be merciful yet He is a consuming fire and rewards every man according to his work. Backsliders should be restored while sinners should receive his pardon. Seek Him now while He may be found.
Thought For The Day: The door of God’s mercy will not remain open forever.
