Topic: The Coming King
[DCLM Daily Manna 13 July 2019 Daily Devotional by Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi]
Text: Psalm 72:1-20 (KJV)
Key Verse: “In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth. He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth” (Psalm 72:7, 8).
MESSAGE:
The coming of a king, president or head of state is usually heralded long before his arrival. There are usually so much preparations to receive him before his arrival. If he is visiting a part of his domain or visiting another country or kingdom, the purpose of such visit is usually spelt out. The details of his itinerary and functions are made public and people are made ready to receive him.
Our text is referred to as the prayer for King Solomon and his new reign. It was a prayer that his reign would be characterised by justice, peace and righteousness. It captured what is desired during his reign as king.
The passage also prophetically pointed to the coming of our Lord Jesus, His kingdom and reign over all the earth. His kingdom would be superior to any other that had existed before. “Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him. For he shall deliver the needy when he crieth; the poor also, and him that hath no helper”. It paints the picture of the glorious messianic reign of Christ over the world.

We are enjoined to pray for the governments, leaders and all those who have the rule over us so that we can go about our lawful business without any hindrance. God’s desire is that all men everywhere should be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. We are equally expected to herald the coming of the great King and His kingdom to the world. We must help the world get prepared to receive Him. It is our duty to bring sinners to the loving Saviour. If we do not blow the trumpet, no one will. So, we must be ready to noise it abroad that Christ the King is coming.
Thought For The Day: Herald the coming of the King by proclaiming the salvation message.
