Topic: At The Lord’s Time
[DCLM Daily Manna 10 September 2018 Daily Devotional]
Text: John 11:1-11 (KJV)
Key Verse: “When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby” (John 11:14).
MESSAGE:
Have you ever wondered why the popular saying, “God’s time is the best” has stood the test of time? This is due to man’s inability to discern God’s timing. Concerning His timing, it is written: “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1). The word of God also assures that the Lord is on top of every matter that is time-bound.
Lazarus, a man whom Jesus loved, was sick. The Lord, upon hearing this, assured those who told Him that the “sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby”. It is important to note that if the sickness was not serious, Jesus would not have calmed those who brought the news. Despite Jesus’ love for Lazarus and his sisters, He did not hurry to arrest the situation. By the time He got to Judaea, sadly, Lazarus had already died.

This study teaches us some mysteries about the Lord Jesus. First, His love is so deep that He never forgets His beloved (John 14:18). Second, He may choose to attend to our desperate situations not when we demand or expect. He does all things in His time. Third, no matter the man-made obstacles on the way, Jesus will always have His way. Fourth, all things He does are done to glorify His name.
Jesus can come into our desperate situations, however seemingly hopeless, when we build a close relationship with Him through repentance and faith in His blood for cleansing from sin. If we are His, we should please Him. And we must trust His timing and perfect judgment.
Thought For The Day: He makes everything beautiful in His time.
