Text: Psalm 119:9-16 (KJV)
9 BETH. Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.

10 With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.

11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

12 Blessed art thou, O LORD: teach me thy statutes.

13 With my lips have I declared all the judgments of thy mouth.

14 I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches.

15 I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.

MESSAGE:
Geographers rely on maps and graphs to locate areas they have not been to before. Seafarers depend on their compass to locate their destination. It will be detrimental to any sea captain who neglects the use of his compass for he would likely drift to an unknown place. By the same token, we have the word of God as our guide. The onus is on us to completely rely on it prayerfully to enable us follow our Lord daily.

There is no other guidebook that can lead us to the kingdom of God except the holy Scriptures. We must, therefore, daily meditate on the precepts and delight ourselves in God’s statutes. The Christian journey is impossible without divine guidance. Dependence on God’s laws keeps the believer on track. Against this backdrop, the psalmist said, “Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word” (Psalm 119:9).

The word of God in our heart will protect us against sin, shield us from all temptations and make us victorious over sin and Satan. To live a life that is approved of God, believers must always depend on Him and His words. Whatever the challenge, we must follow the Lord’s guidebook.

As you go out today, let the word of God be your guide. Knowing that we are called to a holy walk with the Lord, it is therefore very imperative for us to follow the instruction of His word. That is the only light that can illuminate our paths.

Thought For The Day: There is no stumbling when God leads the way.
