TOPIC: PAUL.

TEXT: GALATIANS 2:11-14.
11 But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he was clearly wrong.
12 Until some men arrived from James, he was in the habit of eating with the gentiles, but after those men came, he withdrew from the gentiles and would not associate with them any longer, because he was afraid of the circumcision party.
13 The other Jews also joined him in this hypocritical behavior, to the extent that even Barnabas was caught up in their hypocrisy.
14 But when I saw that they were not acting consistently with the truth of the gospel, I told Cephas in front of everyone, “Though you are a Jew, you have been living like a gentile and not like a Jew. So how can you insist that the gentiles must live like Jews?” Act 10:28

MESSAGE:

The gospel message is that of love and peace. It welcomes and unites converts from different backgrounds. It destroys all forms of prejudices, barriers and dividing walls of hostilities (Ephesians 2:14-15). Peter enjoyed peace and fellowship with Gentile believers in Antioch but refrained in fear when some Jewish believers came around. His action was capable of raising a wall of hostility again. But Paul boldly rebuked him publicly because he was not acting in line with the truth of the gospel. Know that hypocrisy and some ethnical customs are capable of destroying the peace and unity of the church.
What is your attitude towards cultural prejudices and inter-tribal jokes?
Do not use the pulpit to make coarse jokes because they do not often edify (see Ephesians 5:4). Daily Walk With Christ COCIN Devotional WEDNESDAY 31ST MAY 2023 TOPIC: PAUL

REFLECTION:

Hypocrisy destroys the bond of peace and unity.
PRAYER:
Lord, help me to accept and cherish the brotherhood of all believers. Amen.
MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH: 3 JOHN 11.
Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. The person who does what is good is from God. The person who does what is evil has never seen God. Psa 37:27 Isa 1:16 1Pe 3:11 1Jn 3:6.
