12 Dear friends, do not be surprised by the fiery ordeal that is taking place among you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. Jer 48:10 1Co 3:13 1Jn 1:7 [1Pe 1:7]
13 Instead, because you are participating in the sufferings of the Messiah, keep on rejoicing, so that you may be glad and shout for joy when his glory is revealed. [Rom 8:18] [2Co 4:10] [Phi 3:1] [Phi 3:10] [2Ti 2:12]
14 If you are insulted because of the name of the Messiah, you are blessed, for the glorious Spirit of God is resting on you. Mat 5:10 1Pe 2:20 1Pe 3:14 [Mat 5:11] [Luk 6:22]
15 Of course, none of you should suffer for being a murderer, thief, criminal, or troublemaker.
16 But if you suffer for being a Christian, do not feel ashamed, but glorify God with that name.

COCIN Devotional TOPIC: ENDURE PERSECUTION II 14TH JUNE 2023
Persecution has always been the bane of the church, right from its inception. Through persecution, the gospel thrived to our day. Peter in our reading encouraged the church to welcome persecutions and not to think that something strange were happening to them. Christ’s suffering brought us peace. He left us an example to endure because he knows that what you are passing through will not last. So, as a believer, you are called to endure persecution because your future glory far outweighs your present suffering. Joy will certainly come and you will forget the troubles you passed through. Brethren, strive to live peaceably with all men and show humility in your dealings because your faith is a model to the unbelieving world. Keep enduring.
REFLECTION:
Endure persecution.
PRAYER:
I pledge to endure trials and hardship for your sake, so help me God. Amen.
MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH: 1 SAMUEL 25:34.
” 34 For as surely as the LORD God of Israel lives, the one who restrained me from harming you—indeed, had you not quickly come to meet me, by dawn there wouldn’t be a single male left to Nabal.”
