DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST COCIN DEVOTIONAL 10TH JANUARY 2024
TEXT: 1 THESSALONIANS 4:3-12
3. _It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality;_
4. _that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable,_
5. _not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God;_
6. _and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister. The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before._
7. _For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life._
8. _Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit._
9. _Now about your love for one another we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other._
10. _And in fact, you do love all of God’s family throughout Macedonia. Yet we urge you, brothers and sisters, to do so more and more,_
11. _and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you,_
12. _so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.
TOPIC: GOD DEMANDS HOLINESS
Holiness is the state of being pious, devoted and set apart for religious functions. The importance of holiness in the life of a believer cannot be over emphasized. Paul in his letter to the church in Thessalonica warns the believers to avoid sexual immorality. They must learn to control their bodies in a way that is holy and honourable. He also encouraged them to love one another and work with their hands in order to be respected. Sexual immorality and lack of love have hindered many believers from living holy lives. For us to live holy lives we must avoid all form of immorality, love one another and learn to work hard to earn a living, and not depending on others for survival. Are you guilty of any of these sins? Repent and return to God.
REFLECTION: The holy God demands holiness.
PRAYER: Father, help me to live uprightly, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
