SUB-THEME: THE CROSS OF JESUS.
TOPIC: PEACE ON EARTH
TEXT: LUKE 2:14-20.
14 “Glory to God in the highest, and peace on earth to people who enjoy his favor!” Isa 57:19 Eph 2:17 [Psa 148:1] [Luk 19:38]
15 When the angels had left them and gone back to heaven, the shepherds told one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see what has taken place that the Lord has told us about.”
16 So they went quickly and found Mary and Joseph with the baby, who was lying in the feeding trough.
17 When they saw this, they repeated what they had been told about this child.
18 All who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds told them.
19 However, Mary continued to treasure all these things in her heart and to ponder them.
20 Then the shepherds returned to their flock, glorifying and praising God for everything they had heard and seen, just as it had been told to them.
TOPIC: PEACE ON EARTH
MESSAGE:
Sin disrupted the perfect plan of God thereby causing chaos and disharmony. The coming of the Messiah restored peace on earth. We read that the angel of the Lord announced to the shepherds that the Prince of Peace has been born among men. This meant that salvation has been made available and peace restored to the chaotic earth. The shepherds received the good news with joy and never hesitated to tell it to others. Now that you have embraced the peace and salvation that Jesus brings what stops you from sharing same to those living in trouble? His peace elevates, motivates, comforts, heals and provides a sense of belonging to all, irrespective of their background and status. Enjoy this peace and stop disrupting it.
REFLECTION:
Enjoy the peace of God on earth.
PRAYER:
Father, thank you for your peace which is my portion. Amen.
