WELCOME TO FEBRUARY, 2024 SUB-THEME: CALL TO HOLINESS.
INTRODUCTION.
The call to holiness is a call to live a blameless life. God is holy; He created everything pure and demands that every human operation is done in holiness. Holiness is not merely obeying the law or performing some spiritual rites but living a pure and sincere lifestyle devoid of sin. It is a call to consistently seek to live in fellowship with Jesus and to please God always. Believers must shun worldliness and deploy values and standards of operation that portray heavenly mindedness to demonstrate the love and grace of God to us through Christ. The focus of this month is “CALL TO HOLINESS”. As you study the daily topics, endeavour to live holy.
MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH: 1 PETER 1:15.
“But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do”.
THURSDAY, 1ST FEBRUARY, 2024. TOPIC: CREATION.
TEXT: GENESIS 1:26-31.
26. Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
27. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
28. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”
29. Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.
30. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground–everything that has the breath of life in it–I give every green plant for food.” And it was so.
31. God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning–the sixth day.
TOPIC: CREATION.
MESSAGE:
Holiness is the exclusive attribute of God. It portrays His nature and image. God could not have created anything below His standard. Everything He created is “very good” and everything that has breath was created for His worship and good pleasure (Rev. 4:9-11). God created a perfect world. The effect of sin has plunged creation into frustration, groaning and is yearning for liberation from the bondage of decay. As a human being, you are apex of God’s creation. How is your relationship with your environment? You are called to maintain its beauty and keep a cordial relationship with the elements of the environment. When you do so, you are reclaiming the glory of creation.
REFLECTION:
Be a steward of God’s creation.
PRAYER:
Lord, help me to reclaim the glory of your creation. Amen.
