BASIC SCRIPTURES: JOHN 15: 1-8; PROVERBS 3:5-6
John 15:1-8 (KJV):
- “I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
- Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
- Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
- Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
- I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
- If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
- If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
- Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV): 5. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
- In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

“Abide in Me, and I in you.” – John 15:4
In this passage from the book of John, Jesus invites us to a profound relationship with Him. He is the vine, and we are the branches. Just as a branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it remains connected to the vine, we too cannot bear spiritual fruit without remaining in Christ.
Today, reflect on the idea of abiding in Christ. It means trusting Him with all your heart, leaning not on your understanding, but acknowledging Him in all your ways. It’s a call to surrender and depend on His wisdom and guidance. As you abide in Him, you will find strength, purpose, and the ability to bear the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Remember, apart from Christ, we can do nothing. But in Him, we find everything we need. Let your life be a testament to the transformational power of abiding in the true vine, Jesus Christ.
