MESSAGE BY OUR FATHER IN THE LORD, PASTOR W F KUMUYI
TOPIC: WINNING THROUGH HIS RESURRECTION POWER
TEXT: PHILIPPIANS 3:10; ROMANS 8:37; REVELATIONS 12:11
Philippians 3:10
• That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
Romans 8:37
• Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
In every aspect of your life, you are more than conquerors in Jesus name.
Revelation 12:11
• And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
~ Through Christ’s indwelling resurrection power, you will win in every battle and have victory in every area of your life.
~ You have victory over threefold enemies of your soul uniting together:
~ Youl have victory over sin, self and Satan.
~ You have victory over corruption, compromise, carnality,
~ You have victory over the fear of man, over falsehood and fraudulent men.
~ You have victory over worldliness, weakness and wickedness of men around you,
~ The works of the flesh, the world of filthiness, the wave of falsehood will not conquer you.
~ In all that you go through, you will be more than a conqueror in Jesus name.
This is why we are looking at the message WINNING THROUGH HIS RESURRECTION POWER.
In every crossroads, every turn of the way, every challenge of your life, you will win. Whatever hurdle the enemies might put on your way, no matter how high it is, you will jump over, make progress and move forward in Jesus name! How will this resurrection power go along with you, your family members and the church all the way through?
A. COUNTING EARTHLY GAIN AS LOSS TO WIN CHRIST
(Philippians 3:7-8; Hebrews 11:24-27; Ruth 1:10-19)
Philippians 3:7-8
• 7 What things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
• 8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
Think about your life, and the temporary gains of sins, temporary gains in the world, temporary gains you have since you have been living like other people. Apostle Paul said what things were gains to him in the world, in the Jewish religion and tradition, among the authorities of the Sahendrins, all the respect he had he counted as loss for the sake of Christ. He jettisoned all the respect because they contradicted and conflicted with his calling into the gospel of the kingdom. You intentionally lose anything that works against your relationship with Christ, so that you can gain and hold on to Him all the days of your life. Whatever you lose, the Lord will give back to you in hundred, thousand and million folds in Jesus name.
Hebrews 11:24-27. Moses counted all the gains of Egypt as loss: the privilege of being called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. If he had remained in Egypt, he would have become the Emperor, and King but He counted that as loss for a name in heaven. And God surely rewarded him by giving him a name in Scripture. He also dignified him to appear with Christ and Elijah on the mount of transfiguration. God is challenging you today, putting Paul and Moses before us, showing us what they gave up for the sake of Christ. What are you giving up so as to win Christ? The Lord will make you wise. You will count as loss anything that will take the glory, grace and power of Christ from you to retain your place and position in Christ.
Ruth 1:10-18. Ruth was making a decision and taking a firm stand even though she didn’t know what the future held. She insisted on staying with her mother in law, and serving her God while abandoning her own gods. Because of this singular act, she got an honourable man as husband, and became one of the great, great, ancestress of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
“And Ruth said, Entreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the Lord do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me” (Ruth 1:16-17) The Lord has brought you to this place and through His grace, strength and power are coming out of here and reaching your life, this is the place through which you and your family will go to heaven. Amen.
vs 18-19a. “When she saw that she was stedfastly minded to go with her, then she left speaking unto her. So they two went until they came to Beth–lehem…”. We are here together, and we will go and cleave together, nothing will drive you back in Jesus name.
B. CONTENDING EARNESTLY BY GRACE AND LOVE TO WIN OUR COMPANIONS
(Jude vs 3; 1 Peter 3:1; Daniel 1:8; 3:15-18,28-30)
You have companions and friends and the Lord wants you to think about them now that you are saved: your husband, wife, children, parents, friends, co-workers, and all around you. God wants to stand firmly for the faith. Earnestly contending for the faith and passionately presenting the word of life, the truth of grace and love to them. You will win them to the Lord in Jesus name.
Jude vs 3 “Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints”.
The contention here is not to fight or argue with those who oppose your faith, but that you are living the life of Christ that conquers every opposition, the real life of a Christian which conquers every argument. You may not even be as intelligent enough to win the argument because they are more learned and exposed, but you contend by living the life that brings conviction to them. Every day, earnestly, passionately and quietly contending for the faith. What will be the result? Salvation of members of our family, the salvation brought by Christ is for you and your household.
1 Peter 3:1. Anyone having an unbelieving husband on going back home should live a life of humility and respect towards the husband, and he will be conquered by the power of your contending meekly with love. Your new life will conquer all his preconceived notions and one day, he will say he wants to go with you to the Lord and he will be won over.
Daniel 1:8. You will go back home and live a life of no compromise. Determine to live by everything you have heard and learned at this retreat, let the grace of God be evident in your life. You will win the people around you over for Christ, regardless of their position or status, either high or low. Some might be close to you while others might be watching you from a distance. Daniel earnestly contended for the faith, he purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the king’s food and drink. Yet, he excelled so well that he won Nebuchadnezzar over.
Nebuchadnezzar himself drew the battle line by insisting that the Hebrews bowed to his image, ch 3:15-18. But remember, you will not win by fighting or arguing but by taking your stand firmly against sin. This works more effectively vs 28-30. The Hebrew men took their stand and they were not burned in the fiery furnace they were thrown into. They said their God is able, and indeed, our God is able. He will deliver you just as He delivered them. You will go through fire, you will not be burned, you will go through the waters and not drown.
vs 28-30
• 28 Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.
• 29 Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.
• 30 Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, in the province of Babylon.
The king was won over. You will win your enemies, companions and co-workers over, all scorners and scoffers will be won over. Your friends, family members and colleagues will be won over. Nebuchadnezzer acknowledged the almightiness of God because of the deliverance He wrought for His children.
vs 30. They were also promoted because they stood firmly for God. God will promote and lift you up. Not by compromise, but by you taking your stand against sin and compromise. As we go into society which is entrenched in corruption and godlessness, by the grace of God, we will take a stand and win our people for Christ, and the crown of life at the end in Jesus name.
C. CONQUERING ENTRENCHED GODLESSNESS IN THE LAND TO WIN THE CROWN
(1 Corinthians 9:24-27; Romans 12:21; 1 John 5:24,18; Revelations 21:7)
You will win and wear the crown. All rewards that God has for you in eternity, you will not miss any of them in Jesus name. Winning, success, conquering for you. Everywhere you go, in your family, in your offices, you must take the stand to win your people and ultimately, win the crown.
I WILL WIN, I WILL OVERCOME, I WILL CONQUER
Apostle Paul was not fighting people, but anything that will slow him down or stop him. He made up his mind to stand against sin. Anything that will slow you down, anything coming from within and around you that will stop you, you will fight and win. You will not be a castaway, the Lord will give you victory. You must not be overcome with corruption, godlessness, fraud, cheating, violence and every form of evil, but you will overcome evil with good. All who do evil are empowered by Satan, if you allow corruption to overcome you, it is the father of corruption and lies who overcame you. But you will not be overcome in Jesus name.
1 John 5:24 “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith”. Whosoever, a little child, a young person, an adult, a married man and woman, someone working in the most corrupt place in the land, if you are born of God, you have overcome. I see overcomers and conquerors here. You will overcome in Jesus name.
vs 18. “We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not”. They will push all sorts of evil suggestions: to sign something fraudulent, to indulge in fornication or adultery, bribery and corruption, but you will not yield. The wicked one will not touch you.
Revelations 21:7 “He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son”. All those blessing and benediction, as well as the reward of the conquerors await you. You will overcome as those who went before us overcame. I step into the circle of overcomers, I stand with the saints of old who overcame. They overcame by the blood of the Lamb and by relying on the Lord. They overcame by standing with and identifying with God, by believing that with God, all things are possible. Those who have gone before us: Enoch, Moses, Joshua, Elijah, Elisha, Samuel, Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, Peter, Paul, John, all saints of old stood uprightly and did not fall. I stand by their side, I will not fall. You also will not fall or fail. Amen and Amen!
Stand up and pray to the Lord to uphold you to the end. May God keep us and our father in the Lord to the end.
