RCCG LOWER JUNIOR ZEAL FOR 2022/2023

AGE 4-5 TEACHER’S MANUAL

SUNDAY 28TH OF MAY, 2023

LESSON THIRTY NINE (39)

TOPIC: SUSTAINING THE FIRE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT THROUGH THE WORD
BIBLE TEXT: Luke 5:1-11
MEMORY VERSE: Hebrew 4:12a.”For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword.”
LESSON AIM: God’s word is powerful.
CHILD RELATED TRUTH: Learn and obey God’s word.
INTRODUCTION: Psalm 191:115 says Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light into my path. God created the Earth by his spoken word. And
God said “Let there be”
God’s word is powerful because it has a purpose which He wants it to accomplish. Sometimes the purpose of the word of God is to discipline us because we His children and He loves us, At times it heals us, comfort us and direct us. The Holy Spirit gives us understanding and revelation of God’s and empowers us to obey them.
Jesus said in John 6;63 It is the spirit who gives life, the flesh profits nothing, The words that I speak to you are spirit and they are life. Psalm 119: 105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. Love, Learn, and obey God’s word.
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
A. Crowd pressed around Jesus to hear Him preach by the lake. vs.1
B. Jesus climbed into Simon’s boat and asked him to push the boat out into the water so Jesus could sit and teach the people gathered at the shore .vs. 2,3
C. When Jesus finished teaching, He told Simon to launch his boat into the deep water and let down his nets to catch fish. Jesus cared about Peter, He knows his needs. God also loves and care about you. He knows your need of salvation so you can be free from all consequences of sin. John 3:16.
D. But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing: nevertheless “at your word, I will let down the net.”
Simon obeyed in spite of his situation, will you too obey God’s instruction and direction at all times?
E. So many fishes were caught that the net began to break.
F. The fishermen signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help, filling both boats with fish to the point of sinking.
As the fishermen struggled with the heavy net they were amazed and glad that they trusted and had faith in the word of Jesus even though it seems unreasonable, now they were rewarded greatly for their faith in him. You too can be rewarded by trusting and obeying God’s word.
G. Simon fell on his knees, admitting his sin to the Lord Jesus. All the fishermen were astonished at their catch of fish.
CLIMAX: Jesus told the men not to fear for now they would “Catch men”. Jesus called them to a life of special service and commitment to Him beyond anything they had ever known before.
CONCLUSION: The fishermen gave up everything and followed Jesus.
CHALLENGE: As God’s child, God promotes you as you obey Him.
Abraham obeyed God’s word and became father of Nations; Simon obeyed Jesus and became Fishers of Men. The widow of Zarephath obeyed Elijah and was saved from famine. Each time you trust and obey God’s word you receive a reward of blessing from Him.
INVITATION: Receive Jesus as your Saviour today. John 1:12
