TOPIC: Do The Right Thing

READ: Psalms 24:1-10 King James Version (KJV)

1 The earth is the Lord ’s, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell therein.

2 For He has founded it upon the seas, And established it upon the waters.

3 Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord ? Or who may stand in His holy place?

4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully.

5 He shall receive blessing from the Lord , And righteousness from the God of his salvation.

6 This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him, Who seek Your face. Selah

7 Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in.

8 Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, The Lord mighty in battle.

9 Lift up your heads, O you gates! Lift up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in.

10 Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory. Selah

THE MESSAGE:

One of the greatest mistakes a caretaker in a house can make is to take the trust given to him by the landlord for granted. A caretaker can be changed and his privileges withdrawn but the ownership of the house will always remain with the Landlord.

Our text is a great reminder to us of who is in-charge of the earth. The earth and the world belong to the Lord. All the riches, possessions and material things are God’s own. We should not lose sight of this reality. The money we have, the cars, the houses and other material things are held in trust for God.

Even the life we live is not ours. In Luke 12:16-21, a rich man was described as a fool because he made wealth and forgot God who owns his life and all his wealth. There is no room for argument with the Creator. The way we use what God has given to us must be pleasing to Him.

Do not betray trust. Our homes, cars and money are to be used for the service of God. Avoid the temptation of thinking that you are self-made because of your life experiences. Without the grace of God, you can do nothing. So begin to think on how to put your possession into God’s work.

PRAYER: Merciful God, give me the grace to follow.
