How do you maintain a sense of peace and spiritual balance when trials strike? The answer is found in an
abiding relationship with Jesus Christ. As He said on that same night to His disciples, “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself,.unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless
you abide in Me” (John 15:4). An unshakable peace isavailable to all who turn the eyes of their hearts to
Jesus.
Chances are that when adversity strikes, one of the first things you do is wonder why it is happening to you. You may ask what you have done wrong. You
may look at others who seem more “deserving” of adversity—people who openly defy God and His Word—and wonder why their lives seem so trouble
free. Your next thought may be to question what kind of impact the adversity will have on your life. You may start to despair about how it will affect your
relationships, your work, and your future.
