David fled from Naioth in Ramah, and went and said to Jonathan, “What have I done?
What is my iniquity, and what is my sin before your father, that he seeks my life?” (1 Samuel 20:1).

David lived in a world that was anything but certain and secure. At one point, he found himself on the run from King Saul (who wanted to end David’s life) so he could never take the throne.

Yet during this tense time, David found the strength to write, “In the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge, until
these calamities have passed by. I will cry out to God Most High, to God who performs all things for me.

He shall send from heaven and save me” (Psalm 57:1–3).
How could David write such confident words as he was hiding in a cave from a man who wanted to end his life? The answer is found in the way David
led his life up to this point. He was a man who sought God’s presence in everything he did, whether he was confronting a lion, a bear, or a giant named Goliath.

David had learned to give every situation to God, and he had unshakable peace that God would protect him and fulfill His promises.
