MESSAGE:

When we are confused about handling some specific problems in life, we usually go to professionals such as engineers, lawyers, doctors, trusting that their counsel will solve our problems. But God has perfect counsel for His people. We can come to the Lord and ask Him to give us the direction we need in the decisions of life.

Today’s passage deals with the divine messenger (angel Gabriel) sent to help Daniel understand the vision he had, which he couldn’t understand. Centuries later, this same angel Gabriel was sent to Zacharias before the birth of John the Baptist, and to announce the coming of Jesus Christ. Daniel prayed until the angel came with the message of God. Daniel became speechless and weak but the messenger’s touch restored his speech and strengthened him.

Truly, “the secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of the law” (Deuteronomy 29:29). There are some things God has chosen not to reveal unto us possibly because of our immaturity. Yet, we have enough promises of God to obey Him and do His will. Daniel persevered in prayer and fasting until the messenger finally arrived. Answers to our prayers may be hindered and challenged by evil and unseen forces. Even so, earnest and fervent prayer of faith will bring the result in due time, if we do not succumb to defeat and failure.

New Testament believers do not depend on angels for leading and guidance, but on the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is holy; thus, we must avoid anything which will grieve Him in our lives, and make it difficult to recognise His leading and guidance.

Thought For The Day: Avoid being led by the nose; let Christ lead you.
