Text: Psalm 11:1-7
1 In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?

2 For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart.

3 If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?

4 The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD’S throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.

5 The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.

6 Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.

7 For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.

MESSAGE:
From an article written by David Schilling. It is said that human knowledge, on average, doubles every thirteen months. We are quickly on our way, with the help of internet, to the doubling of knowledge every twelve hours.

David in the passage focused on the knowledge of God. He expressed his confidence in Him. He highlighted His ability to know, see, hear and feel our pains no matter where we are on planet earth. The presence of the Lord brings stability to our fainting hearts and provides an enduring foundation to our Christian faith. God’s retributive judgement upon the wicked was equally highlighted.

Man’s knowledge, as advanced as it is today, is fraught with errors, mistakes and limitations. Our justice system, helped by modern technology, sometimes ends up punishing the innocent while the wicked is let off the hook because of our imperfections. Some people have spent years in incarceration after having been wrongly accused of crimes they never committed. The only one who cannot make mistakes, who understand and knows the details of every event, is our God. The world has its own system or ways of doing things. The character of the world is diametrically opposed to the character of God, which the Church represents. In the world, injustice is a way of life.

The knowledge of God ensures that the righteous is sure of His protection and sustenance even though we may be in temporary adversity and sorrow. The knowledge of God gives an unwavering assurance to us that all will be well.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Where the knowledge of our best brains ends, God’s begins.

THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Genesis 17-20
