MESSAGE:

The birth of the United States on July 4, 1776 came after much preparations and consultations that included meetings among Christians, military and political leaders. One of the founding fathers, George Washington, who later became the nation’s first president, was a man given to prayer and Bible reading. He sought the face of God every step of the way as the world awaited the arrival of the state that would emerge a big global player.

Thousands of years earlier when the Manoah family in ancient Israel also waited for a baby marked for greatness by God, after a period of barrenness, their main preparation was to go to God with the posers: “How shall we order the child, and how shall we do unto him?” The child was special and born of prophecy; he was set for God’s service and the parents wisely wanted divine counsel on how to handle him. He could not be treated ordinarily.

There was a way of life prescribed by the Lord for the woman too. She must abstain from anything coming from the grapevine; she must not take any wine or other fermented drink; she must not eat any unclean food. Before birth, he was to be kept in cleansed environment of salutary spotlessness. After birth, he was to continue to live the same way: separated and consecrated to God all his life, pleasing the Lord and not the world.

If we hope to live great lives that will have remarkable impact on our world, then we must find out from the Lord how we ought to order our lives. The same applies to the children we are raising and the people we lead. When the Lord gives us the blueprint for leading and bringing up others and we follow such religiously, we can be sure of giving the world a blessing through those we bring up.

Thought For The Day: The new birth leads to more new births through a lifetime of evangelism.
