MESSAGE:

In his book “Shaping History Through Prayer And Fasting”, Derek Prince tells how his prayer and fasting changed the course of war in favour of the Allied Forces during the Second World War. He also told how he and his Jewish wife stood in for Israel in 1948 when the Syrians wanted to overrun them as they returned home to become a sovereign nation once again.

In our text, we see the generations of Ishmael, Abraham’s son from Hagar and his twelve princes, as God had promised Abraham. Also, we see Isaac intercede for his wife who had been barren for years and God’s answer by giving them twin children struggling in their mother’s womb.

God did not promise His children a trouble-free life, but assures of His help in times of need.

Saints in Bible days like Abraham, Samuel, David, Jehoshaphat, Elijah, Daniel, Hannah, Esther and so on had become conquerors through fervent and consistent prayer. Our Lord, Jesus Christ, prayed exceedingly during His earthly ministry and taught His followers “that men ought always to pray and not to faint” (Luke 18:1). George Muller who established an orphanage in Bristol that catered for young people “determined that the children will be provided with everything they needed by prayer and faith without making an appeal to anyone for money but God”. The number of the children grew to over 2,000 at a point, and he took care of them without any standing income as he depended only on God in prayer.

As the end gets nearer, there is no better time to pray than now. Pray without ceasing.

Thought For The Day: Unceasing prayer connects the believer to the invincible power of God.
