Text: Ecclesiastes 11:7-10 (KJV)
7 Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for the eyes to behold the sun:

8 But if a man live many years, and rejoice in them all; yet let him remember the days of darkness; for they shall be many. All that cometh is vanity.

9 Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.

10 Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth are vanity.

Key Verse: “Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment” (Ecclesiastes 11:9).

MESSAGE:
Youthful days are quite impressionistic. Youths are witty, adventurous and daring but unfortunately, one of the greatest albatross of man is his failure to think or plan for the future. In fact, he who fails to prepare for his future is the greatest fool. A story was told of a king who gave his clown a walking stick in honour of his being the best clown, the biggest fool. The stick was only to be given to a greater fool by the clown. One day, the king was dying and the clown came to visit. He asked the king what preparation he had made for going to heaven and the king answered, “None”. He quietly gave his walking stick to the king remarking, “You are the greatest fool”.

Many have no doubt, lost the thought about their future, living carelessly in the euphoria of present accomplishments and success. They allow themselves to be lost in the tide of the pleasures of life and the deceitfulness of riches. God is not against riches and prosperity, nor is He averse to people living the good life. However, the greatest fool on earth is the one who exalts the gift and forgets the Giver.

God gives life and He gives it more abundantly, but we must be careful not to abuse the use of the things of this world. We must avoid making the pursuit of wealth, fame, influence and power our greatest priority in life. “What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul”. Every step and action we take must be in the light of eternity since we must all appear before God the final Judge.

Those who have lost focus and already lost in the maze of life, should put “away evil from [their] flesh…” in order not to regret in eternity for the vanities of their “childhood and youth”.

Thought For The Day: Your eternal destiny matters most than your earthly gains.
