MESSAGE:

This is an inescapable question everyone must ask and be prepared to supply unambiguous answer to. Yet, majority of individuals walking along this part of eternity consciously or unconsciously, fail to address this question. The Lord Jesus in our text wanted the opinion of His disciples on who men thought that He was. Yet, He posed a second and stronger question to them: “… But whom say ye that I am?…” (Mark 8:29).

These questions were pertinent to the Lord who desired to know what men around and His disciples in particular knew about Him. We must know who we are in the sight of God, in the light of His word and based on the objective assessment of men around us.

Failure to ascertain the facts of who we are before God and the watching world will affect the quality of life we live in terms of our vision, mission, ministry, message and morals. We must first present our lives to Christ and allow our hearts reverence Him in the private and in the public. We must commit ourselves to thinking and acting right daily, maintaining good conscience before God and men as well as letting the world see Jesus in us in our daily living.

This level of the Christian life is possible and can be attained through utilising the resources available to us in God’s word and fellowship with His abiding Spirit, who reveals all truths about life to us. Knowing who we are in time and in the future, is indeed the greatest laurel any man can achieve in life. Many of God’s saints, past and present, have achieved this feat. You too can make it.

Thought For The Day: Our greatest task in life is to see ourselves through God’s lenses.
