TOPIC: HYPOCRISY.
TEXT: MATTHEW 15:7-9.
7. You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you:
8. “‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.
9. They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.’”
TOPIC: HYPOCRISY.
MESSAGE:
Hypocrisy is the claim of being what you are really not. All men are prone to hypocrisy of some sort. The Pharisees in our reading knew about God but did not respond to Him based on His terms. Their hearts were full of iniquity. Their attitudes and actions constituted a stumbling block to others who wanted to follow God genuinely (see Matthew 23:3). Spiritual hypocrisy is a dangerous and deadly sin, which Jesus sternly condemns. You are a hypocrite if you do eye service or fail to do what you preach. Hypocrisy will threaten your walk with God if you do not deal with it. Do so by giving your heart to God today; allow Him to invade it by breaking all hardness so that your worship will be acceptable to Him. Do not be a hypocrite making others to stumble.
REFLECTION:
Hypocrisy is loathsome to God.
PRAYER:
Father, help me to always be sincere. Amen.

And a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness. The unclean will not journey on it; it will be for those who walk in that Way; wicked fools will not go about on it.
