DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST COCIN DEVOTIONAL WEDNESDAY, 17TH JANUARY, 2024
TEXT: LUKE 1:46-55
46. And Mary said: “My soul glorifies the Lord
47. and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
48. for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed,
49. for the Mighty One has done great things for me— holy is his name.
50. His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation.
51. He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.
52. He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble.
53. He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty.
54. He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful
55. to Abraham and his descendants forever, just as he promised our ancestors.”
TOPIC: THE MIGHTY ONE
There is no doubt our God is the Mighty One. He reigns from generation to generation. Today’s passage shows that Mary, the mother of Jesus, sang a song of praise to the Lord. Her spirit rejoiced in God because the Lord, the Mighty One, has done great things for her. God showed her favour and lifted her from her humble state. He performed mighty deeds with His arm and scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts. He filled the hungry with good things, but sent the rich away empty. Indeed, the Lord has done so much for us. Count your blessings name them one by one and you will see what He has done for you. Sadly, some people have failed to praise and thank God for His faithfulness in their lives. Learn to appreciate the Lord, the Mighty one.
REFLECTION: The Mighty One is worthy to be praised.
PRAYER: Lord, thank you for your faithfulness in my life. Amen.
