Charles F.stanley ‘s sermon for today: God may use tragedy, sickness, and affliction to reveal His will

Table of Contents

Topic:God may use tragedy, sickness, and affliction to reveal His will.

God also uses tragedy, sickness, and affliction to reveal His will

When King Hezekiah of Judah became
prideful, God used an illness to alert him to the problem (see 2 Chronicles 32:24–25). When King Nebuchadnezzar took credit for the splendor of His kingdom, God afflicted him with madness (see Daniel 4:28–33).

And God certainly used Paul’s temporary
affliction of blindness to get his attention. While not every tragedy has such a direct cause, it is a good idea to examine your life when going through afflictions and ask if God is using them to guide you.

God knows exactly where you are in your journey of faith and precisely what it will take to get your attention. So stay alert. If any of these divine methods are occurring—or recurring—ask God what
He wants to tell you. And then listen . . . not simply to hear, but also to obey.
May the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen
(Hebrews 13:20–21
